Have you heard of Envirosax yet?

They are a savior to those who love and support reusable bags.

Not only do they fold up real small to fit in most any purse/pocket, but they hold up to 44lbs and will not fade with washing.

And yet the clever and genius people at envirosax have another great use for their bags: with the bags beautiful designs, you can use them to wrap gifts in! This helps save the paper/ribbon/tape and some annoying cuts you could receive from regular wrapping.

An excerpt from
Rumi: The Big Red Book

Every tree, every growing thing as it grows,
says this truth, You harvest what you sow.
With life as short as a half-taken breath,
do not plant anything but love.

The value of a human being can be measured
by what he or she most deeply wants.

Be free of possessing things.
Sit at an empty table.
Be pleased with water, the taste of being home.

People travel the world looking for the friend,
but that one is always at home.

A rose opens because she is the fragrance she loves.....

Tap into your poetic side and come take a look at some of the beautiful poetry books we carry here in our store. Come on in, stay warm and feel peace.

~Blessings~

We all think eating fruit means just buying fruit, cutting it up and popping it into our mouths. It's not that easy. It's important to know how and when
to eat fruit.

What's the correct way to eat fruit?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUIT AFTER A MEAL! FRUIT SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.

Eating fruit like that plays a major role in detoxifying your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.

FRUIT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FOOD.

Let's say you eat two slices of bread, then a slice of fruit. The slice of fruit is ready to go straight through the stomach into the intestines, but it's prevented from doing so.

In the meantime, the whole meal rots and ferments, and turns to acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach, and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil.

Eat your fruit on an empty stomach, or before your meal! You've heard people complain: Every time I eat watermelon I burp, when I eat durian my stomach bloats, when I eat a banana I feel like running to the toilet, etc. This will not happen if you eat the fruit on an empty stomach. Fruit mixes with the putrefying other food and produces gas. Hence, you bloat!

There's no such thing as some fruits, like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruit becomes alkaline in our body, according to Dr. Herbert Shelton who did research on this matter. If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruit, you have the Secret of Beauty, Longevity, Health, Energy, Happiness and normal weight.

When you need to drink fruit juice drink only fresh fruit juice, NOT the concentrated juice from the cans. Don't drink juice that has been heated. Don't eat cooked fruit; you don't get the nutrients at all. You get only the taste. Cooking destroys all of the vitamins.

Eating a whole fruit is better than drinking the juice. If you should drink the juice, drink it mouthful by mouthful slowly, because you must let it mix with your saliva before swallowing it. You can go on a 3-day fruit-fast to cleanse your body. Eat fruit and drink fruit juice for just 3 days, and you will be surprised when your friends say how radiant you look!

KIWI: Tiny but mighty, and a good source of potassium, magnesium, vitamin E and fiber. Its vitamin C content is twice that of an orange!

AN APPLE a day keeps the doctor away? Although an apple has a low vitamin C content, it has antioxidants and flavonoids which enhances the activity of vitamin C, thereby helping to lower the risk of colon cancer, heart attack and stroke.

STRAWBERRY: Protective Fruit. Strawberries have the highest total antioxidant power among major fruits and protect the body from
cancer-causing, blood vessel-clogging free radicals.

EATING 2 - 4 ORANGES a day may help keep colds away, lower cholesterol, prevent and dissolve kidney stones, and reduce the risk of colon cancer.

WATERMELON: Coolest thirst quencher. Composed of 92% water, it is also packed with a giant dose of glutathione, which helps boost our immune system. Also a key source of lycopene, the cancer-fighting oxidant. Also found in watermelon: Vitamin C and Potassium.

GUAVA & PAPAYA: Top awards for vitamin C. They are the clear winners for their high vitamin C content. Guava is also rich in fiber, which helps prevent constipation. Papaya is rich in carotene, good for your eyes.

"Winter is a sketch, Spring is a water color, Summer is an oil painting and Autumn is a mosaic of them all"
Hooray for October! May we find yoga in most anything we do, for example- apple picking! And what better time to pick apples than October. Keeping a holistic and healthy approach to things, I thought I would share a delicious apple receipe that doesn't include pounds of sugar.
Sooooo introducing: Cider-Braised Baby Bok Choy and Golden Apples
Igredients:
3 tbsp low -sodium chicken broth
2 tbsp apple cider
1/2 tsp soy sauce
1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
1 tbsp unsalted butter
1/4 tsp kosher salt
2 Baby bok choy, halved lengthsie, washed and spun dry
1/2 large golden delicious apple, cored and cut into 8 wedges
1/4 tsp grated fresh ginger

1) combine the broth, cider and soy sauce in a liquid measuring cup
2) In a 10in/25 cm straight sided saute pan with a lid, heat the olive oil and 1/2 tbsp of the butter over medium heat. When the butter has melted and is bubbling, sprinkle the salt over the pan. Arrange the bok choy, cut side down, and the apple wedges in one layer in the pan. Cook, without stirring, until the undersides of the bok choy and the apples are nicely browned, 6-7 minutes.
3) With tongs, gently turn the apple wedges over. Carefully pour the liquid into the pan and cover immediately. Simmer until the liquid is almost completely reduced (1 or 2 tsp will be left), 5 0 6 minutes. Uncover, remove the pan from the heat, and transfer the bok choy and the apples to a serving platter. Add the remaining 1/2 tbsp butter and the ginger to the pan and stir well with a silicone spatula as the butter melts, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Pour the sauce over the bok choy and apples, scraping it out of the pan.
Serves 4

This receipe is from the book Fast, Fresh and Green which is available for sale in our Store!
And for more things green, be sure to check out our Whole Foods 101 class coming Oct 25th:)

Meet Diane Christensen our featured student spotlight!
Diane is a sweet and cheerful yogini that represents All That Matters well.
When did you start yoga and what attracted you to the practice:
I started yoga to regain flexibility after running a marathon. I was so stiff and tight that I was having trouble doing simple things like getting out of my car!
What is your favorite style of yoga: I do both basic and heated vinyasa classes. I like this combination and each class helps me with the other.
What other activities do you enjoy: I also enjoy time with my dog ( a Bichon Frise), running, hiking and just about any kind of home improvement project!
Favorite sound: My favorite sound is the sound of an owl...especially on a summer night as I’m falling asleep.
Least favorite sound: Gunshots from hunters because I fear that an animal might be suffering...
Favorite meal: Pizza! (but only because I don’t think chocolate counts as a meal..)
What keeps you doing yoga: I keep doing yoga because it is fun and the mind/body health benefits are undeniable. My classes are like mini vacations. I always leave ATM feeling better than when I walked in!
Advice to beginners: Try not to let time constraints prevent you from doing yoga. If it is something you want to do, make it a priority.
What do you like most about All That Matters: What I like most about All That Matters is the teachers...they are outstanding! They provide great classes, skillful instruction and inspiration in all aspects of yoga. Thank you!

With two great workshops coming up : Feeding Healthy Kids with Tracey Blahy and Yoga Diet-Eating for Health and Peace with Shanthi Muthu, I felt inspired to review some seasonal foods to help keep both the summer and my health going strong!
Seasonal food recipe finder: August
It's the peak of summer with everything growing in abundance, but it's a good time to stock up for winter

This month's newcomers...
Plums, greengages, sweetcorn, blackberries, early damsons, crayfish, red grouse, hare
Still in season: Artichoke, aubergine, basil, beetroot, broad beans, broccoli, carrots, courgettes, cucumber, fennel, french beans, garlic, lamb, new potatoes, onions, pak choi, peas, rabbit, radishes, rocket, runner beans, sorrel, spring onions, turnips, watercress ; apricots, blueberries, cherries (English), gooseberries, loganberries, peaches, raspberries, redcurrants

It’s the Taste That Counts
For most of us, the taste of the food we buy is every bit as important as the cost, if not more so. When food is not in season locally, it’s either grown in a hothouse or shipped in from other parts of the world, and both affect the taste. Compare a dark red, vine-ripened tomato still warm from the summer sun with a winter hothouse tomato that's barely red, somewhat mealy, and lacking in flavor. When transporting crops, they must be harvested early and refrigerated so they don’t rot during transportation. They may not ripen as effectively as they would in their natural environment and as a result they don’t develop their full flavor.
“Foods lose flavor just as they lose moisture when they are held. Fresh, locally harvested foods have their full, whole flavors intact, which they release to us when we eat them,” explains Susan Herrmann Loomis, owner of On Rue Tatin Cooking School in France and author of numerous cookbooks. “Foods that are chilled and shipped lose flavor at every step of the way – chilling cuts their flavor, transport cuts their flavor, being held in warehouses cuts their flavor.” It’s hard to be enthusiastic about eating five servings a day of flavorless fruits and vegetables and it’s even harder to get your children to be enthusiastic about it. But 16-year-old Jenny Morris from Littleton, CO is a big fan of eating locally grown fruit in season. “I’d stand in line for one of those peaches from the farmer’s market,” she says, referring to the succulent peaches harvested mid-summer from Colorado’s western slope.
For tasty recipes, suggestions and more conscious food choices make sure to check out the workshops coming up and books in our store :)

Finding your own way to ‘Eat Pray Love’
08/17/2010 from Providence Journal
By Leigh GroganMcClatchy Newspapers

Most of us can only fantasize about taking a year off from life like Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of “Eat Pray Love.” Gilbert, whose story is now on the big screen starring Julia Roberts, divorced her husband and went on a trip around the world for a year, eating in Italy, praying in an ashram in India and finding love in Indonesia.
It’s not exactly the sort of thing that just anyone can do, but there are some simple ways to get a bit of spiritual balance in everyday life. It could start with something as simple as a walk — without a cell phone — according to Rose Zahnn, a fitness instructor and owner of a yoga and Pilates business in Sacramento, Calif.
“I read the book when it came out and I think the nugget she [Gilbert] took away especially in India was the notion of stripping external things like her phone and computer,” she said.
“The closest we could come to that without getting rid of everything, including work and family, is to take time two to three times a week to reconnect with ourselves.”
It’s about making a choice to slow down and maybe, maybe take a deep breath.
Zahnn has practiced yoga for more than 25 years and says it’s ironic that when she started, the mind-body connection of yoga was never mentioned.
“Now, you want to have that link,” Zahnn said. “And there are other things you can do to get rid of the static in your head.”
We’re bombarded by phones, computers, mobile devices, Facebook, Twitter. How hard would it be to take a one-day break from your e-mail?
“I like to take a walk with my dog and just focus on my surroundings no music, no phone,” Zahnn said. “Go to the farmers’ market and enjoy something healthy. It’s all about conscious choices.
“Directing your thoughts is difficult. But if you stay mindful, learn to breathe and slow down the chatter, the message will come true.”
Gilbert’s wake-up call in the book was about living a life she wasn’t resonating with.
For the rest of us, it might just be like taking the garbage out.
You can find the book Eat, Pray, Love and Gilbert's other book Committment in our store, as well as other calming books to choose from :)
